The Faculty of Agriculture offers a broad range of degree programmes across agriculture, agricultural engineering, economics, education, extension, animal science, crop production and horticulture.
Our programmes combine academic knowledge with practical training, research, entrepreneurship and exposure to the agricultural sector.
Through undergraduate and postgraduate study, students are prepared to contribute meaningfully to agriculture and related disciplines in Eswatini and beyond.

Beyond the Classroom
Practical Learning
Agriculture is a practical discipline. The Faculty's degree programmes incorporate supervised training, entrepreneurship and research alongside academic study.

Field Attachment
Students in the Agriculture-related programmes are required to complete a 12-week supervised Field Attachment in Semester VI
02
Teaching Practice
Students in the Agricultural Education programme complete a 12-week supervised Teaching Practice in Semester VI.
03
Applied Entrepreneurship
Students undertake supervised Applied Entrepreneurship in Semester VII and Semester VIII. The course is assessed through Continuous Assessment only.
04
Research Project
Final-year students undertake a supervised Research Project and present themselves for an oral examination on their research.
05
Practical Training
Practical learning forms an important part of agricultural education, supported by field-based activities and the University's teaching farm.
Admission
Entry requirements.
The following special admission provisions
apply to the Faculty of Agriculture's
Bachelor of Science degree programmes.
Applicants must also satisfy the University's
Academic General Regulations.

EGCSE / IGCSE Admissions
In addition to the requirements stipulated in the Academic General Regulations, an applicant must have a C grade or better in Mathematics and two Science subjects. The science subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Coordinated Sciences, Physical Science and Physics. A credit pass (C grade or better) in Agriculture or Agricultural Science or Agricultural Technology will be accepted as a science subject.

GCE O’ Level Admissions
In addition to the requirements stipulated in the Academic General Regulations, an applicant must have a C grade or better in Mathematics and two Science subjects. The science subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Combined Science, Physics, Science (Chemistry/Physics) and additional Combined Science. A credit pass (C grade or better) in Agriculture or Agricultural Science will be accepted as a science subject.

A’ Level Admissions
A’ Level admissions are subject to the provisions of the Academic General Regulations.

Diploma Admissions
An applicant who has completed the relevant 2-year Diploma Programme in the Faculty of Agriculture, UNISWA, or its equivalent, may be admitted to Level 1 of the degree programme. An applicant who has completed the relevant 3-year Diploma Programme may be admitted to Level 2 or 3 of the degree programme.

Other Admissions
Applicants covered by the relevant Agriculture admission regulations may be eligible for admission into the appropriate level of the relevant degree programme, subject to the University's academic regulations and Senate requirements.

Programme Structure
Study with purpose.
Agriculture programmes combine academic study with practical work, continuous assessment, field experience, entrepreneurship and research.

Continuous Assessment
Courses may include tests, assignments, practicals, term papers and special projects. The Calendar specifies a Continuous Assessment to Examination ratio of 1:1.

Practical Learning
Practical activities form an important part of agricultural education and are supported by the Faculty's teaching and research environment.

Field Experience
Agriculture-related programmes include a supervised 12-week Field Attachment in Semester VI, while Agricultural Education includes supervised Teaching Practice.
04
Entrepreneurship
Supervised Applied Entrepreneurship is undertaken in Semester VII and Semester VIII, giving students opportunities to develop practical entrepreneurial capabilities.
05
Research
Final-year students undertake a supervised Research Project and an oral examination as part of the completing level.
06
Protective Clothing
Students are required to have a white laboratory coat, overalls, a dust-coat, gum boots and steel-capped work boots for practical activities as directed by the relevant department.
